An Update on Reopening our Leisure Centres

We are happy to announce that from Saturday 1 August we reopened all our Leisure Centres across Westminster.

We know how important getting and staying active is to our residents and our entire community, which is why we felt it was important to take the time to finalise operational details in order to allow our leisure centres to open safely before reopening.

As part of the reopening process we have been working towards the Right Directions ‘Fit for Business’ independent certification, a new accreditation produced by nationwide Quest auditors, Right Directions as a mark of confidence that leisure facilities with the certification have taken measures to ensure they are compliant with government COVID-19 guidance.

During lockdown, and in partnership with Everyone Active, we took the opportunity to carry out essential maintenance and improvement works to the leisure centre across Westminster.

At Queen Mother Sports Centre the main and diving pools have been drained and the circulation pipework has been fully remodelled. Unfortunately, these essential improvement works mean that the main and diving pools will remain closed until late August to allow each pool to have a wholly independent filtration system fitted.

Additionally, the planned major refurbishment works of the main pool at Porchester is continuing and is expected to be completed by end of 2020. This is subject to any further COVID-19 related working protocols.

You can find out more about the maintenance and improvement works that have been taking place at our leisure centres here.

While all our Leisure Centres were opened from 1 August, some services may have changed, and you may need to book ahead of your visit. For up-to-date information on timetables and classes, please visit the EveryoneActive website or download the app.

All of our outdoor recreation areas, including Paddington Recreation Ground remain open as usual. Find out more details on our parks and green spaces here.

And don’t forget that, for those of you more comfortable being active at home, there are tips on how to get or stay active at indoors here and on social media by searching #StayInWorkOut.
