Featured Update: Ashley McKenzie Aims to Raise £5,000 for Local Club and Hospital

As you may know, one of the athletes we support via our Champions of the Future scheme is Ashley McKenzie,Team GB’s No.1 judoka at 60kg.

Ashley grew-up and went to school in Queen’s Park and still supports the local community by undertaking school visits to talk about the many challenges he had to overcome before he could achieve his dream.

This year would have seen Ashley participate in his third Olympics representing Great Britain but due to the COVID-19 crisis this is now on hold.

Along with his judo team mates, Ashley is raising money for the Camberley Judo club where they train and the Great Ormond Street Hospital, which is of particular importance to Ashley as it is where he underwent the open-heart surgery as as a child that saved his life.

Ashley’s aim is to raise £5,000 by running 10k per day for 10 days. Full details of the challenge and how you can support are available here.
