The London Youth Games (LYG) is Europe’s largest youth sports festival. Historically, LYG competitions take place across 30 different sports over nine months, starting with Cross Country in November and finishing with a finals weekend in July.
This year, LYG are excited to be able to run the games digitally and will be launching their Virtual Games on Monday 8th June 2020. Young people from across London are invited to represent their borough by competing in up to twelve different challenges across 4 weeks.
Last year, Westminster finished in 18th place out of 33 London boroughs and were awarded a total of 847 points. This comes just two years after winning the ‘Most Improved Borough Champions 2016’ trophy for achieving our best results and final positioning in over 10 years.
We want as many young people as possible from across Westminster to get involved in this years virtual games, where individual prizes are up for grabs in addition to the much coveted Jubilee Trophy. Share your club’s challenge attempts with us on social media using the #ActiveWestminster hashtag so we can like and share your posts. Don’t forget to also include the London Youth Games #ThisIsLYG hashtag to be in the running to win the weekly MVP (Most Valuable Player) award. Children must have parental permission before sharing any content with us on social media.
