During your time with us you will become an expert in a wide range of adventure and environmental activities and gain nationally recognised qualifications.

Sayers Croft offers one of most varied and interesting apprenticeships available today.

  • Gain experience leading exciting adventurous activities such climbing, axe throwing, raft building and ropes courses
  • Learn to run nature-based activities including pond dipping, stream studies and nature detectives
  • Learn to run interactive history sessions in our iron age round house
  • Work with our grounds team on conservation and maintenance tasks around the site helping to preserve our beautiful centre
  • Have your own personal mentor who will support you throughout the programme
  • Complete regular apprenticeship workshops to learn to be a great instructor
  • Join a friendly and welcoming team of outdoor and nature enthusiasts
  • Join a team of fellow apprentices working through the scheme together
  • Live on site in free shared accommodation with a private bedroom and all bills paid for
  • Get free food in the canteen when groups are on site (which is most of time!)
  • Earn while you learn being on apprenticeship wage for the first year.
  • After 12 months your wage will rise to national minimum wage
  • Enjoy 31 days of leave a year

What will I learn?

You will:

  • Gain in-house qualifications and experience in running adventurous activities including climbing, ropes course, axe throwing  and raft building
  • Gain experience running environmental studies and history sessions
  • Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor Award
  • REC Level 2 Outdoor first Aid Course
  • STA Level 2 Pool Emergency Responder
  • Level 2 Safeguarding course
  • Basic archery Instructor Course
  • National Navigation Award (NNAS) Bronze
  • Lowland Leader Training Course
  • Conservation and maintenance skills and experience
