The ActiveWestminster Mark is the accreditation award that shows Westminster residents and Schools that clubs, providers or organisations deliver quality physical activity, leisure and/or sport activities and meet a range of quality standards set by the Council’s Sports Leisure and Active Communities (SL&AC) service.
Those who have been awarded the mark have evidenced they meet a range of quality standards set by the ActiveWestminster partnership, including health and safety, coaching qualifications and insurance.
We encourage all sports clubs, providers or organisations delivering services in the City of Westminster to apply for ActiveWestminster Mark and recommend that schools looking to work with providers engage with those who either already hold the ActiveWestminster Mark or are actively working towards it.
There are two levels of accreditation available to apply for:
- The Active Westminster Mark Plus (AWM+) for established clubs and organisations providing opportunities for Westminster residents to be active which lasts for three years and the
- The Active Westminster Mark which is aimed to support personal trainers, private coaches, and sole traders etc. which lasts for two years.

Benefits of joining
For both levels of accreditation, holders of the Mark are entitled to a range of benefits including:
- 30% off (non-resident prices) on facility hire at Westminster leisure centres for target group sessions only (juniors, senior, Women*, girls and disability)
- Increased access to training and development for your workforce through our new bespoke volunteering service in partnership with Westminster Connects (link to Westminster connects here)
- Development support from SL&AC, and London Sport
- Opportunities to be involved in Westminster initiatives including the London Youth Games, holiday camps, ongoing community sports work and other ActiveWestminster Mark organisations
- Inclusion in Westminster-wide marketing and communications to raise your organisation’s profile
- Enhanced links to the local community
- Enhanced profile via Active Westminster social media resources
- Membership of the ActiveWestminster Network partnership to explore opportunities to collaborate, share best practices and apply for Network funding
- Sign-up to the ActiveWestminster Newsletter providing targeted help to support your delivery needs, such as additional funding opportunities, access to further development and Governance updates.
How to apply
To start the process, applicants should express their interest in becoming accredited by filling out an expression of interest form. We will then get in touch with further information.
On completion of the process, we will provide you with certification as well as ActiveWestminster logos to add to your promotional literature to highlight that you are ActiveWestminster Mark accredited.
