Get running with Couch to 5K

Image of man stood outside, with quote reading "I started because I was really stressed".

Couch to 5k is a running plan for beginners. The Couch to 5K app gives you a choice of coaches and helps you track your progress.

NHS Couch to 5K will help you gradually work up towards running 5km in just 9 weeks.

Running requires little equipment, but a good pair of running shoes that suit your foot type may help improve comfort.

Running regularly will improve the health of your heart and lungs. It can also help you lose weight, especially if combined with a healthy diet.

Share your Couch to 5k journey or view inspiring posts from other app users using the #Couchto5k hashtag.

Do Good, Get Fit

GoodGym is a community of people who get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to support community projects and isolated older people with practical tasks.

Sessions are high energy but inclusive to all – they live by the mantra ‘no one is left alone, no one is left behind’. Anyone can join GoodGym

There are groups all across the UK but their beginnings were right here, in London, growing to 22,000 GoodGymers since 2009.

Jōbu is a social enterprise using behavioural science to motivate people to get and stay active.

You can get involved by joining a workshop or joining the app.

The aim is to create the conditions that will help people motivate themselves to get fitter and healthier; improving mood and productivity, less illness, better quality sleep, happier, better interactions with family, friends, work colleagues and society, less strain on the NHS, more ecologically aware and much more…

Find A Running Partner

JoggingBuddy_AW

Achieve your goals and get more from running with a running partner via Jogging Buddy.

Jogging Buddy has two core beliefs, firstly, that being active is the antidote to many of the ailments and issues in our lives. Inactivity significantly harms our life chances. The second, if we do decide to get fit, many give up.  That is why we believe in the power of groups.

Buddying up with one or more runners in your local area keeps you motivated and makes the whole thing much more enjoyable.

No matter your location, whether it be Westminster, London, somewhere else nationally or abroad, find a training partner to get you motivated.

Additional community support will be made available in partnership with local organisations, offering more ways for residents to improve their health and to ensure the service is appropriate for those experiencing poor health outcomes. This particularly includes residents from global majority/BAME communities, and people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities or severe mental illness.
