Dance Westminster 2026

Celebrate seven years of inspiring movement with us!

Our free annual pan-disability dance competition brings disabled people together to enjoy dance, build confidence and get active in a fun and supportive environment. To mark our 7th anniversary, we’re making this year’s event our biggest and best yet. If you love to dance, read the information below and register for one of our heats.

About Dance Westminster

Dance Westminster is delivered in partnership with Step Change Studios, an award-winning dance company that is committed to making dance accessible and inclusive for everyone.

The competition is open to disabled people aged 11 and over who live, work or study in Westminster.

Who can take part?

Dance Westminster welcomes people of all abilities and experience levels. You do not need any previous dance experience to take part.

Whether you enjoy ballroom, Bollywood or another style of dance, everyone is encouraged to join in.

You can dance:

  • Standing
  • Seated
  • In the way that works best for you

Carers, personal assistants and support workers are welcome to take part alongside the people they support. Our experienced dance staff and volunteers will be there to provide support throughout the workshops and the final.

Get ready to dance

You will first attend a free dance workshop where you will:

  • Take part in a fun and inclusive dance session.
  • Learn a dance routine with professional instructors.
  • Meet other participants in a welcoming environment.

At the end of the workshop, you can take part in an audition. You can choose to:

  • Perform the routine you learned during the workshop, or
  • Freestyle and perform your own dance.

Ten finalists will be selected to take part in the Grand Final on Tuesday 1 December 2026 at Porchester Hall.

Each finalist will be paired with a professional dance partner and will receive one-to-one coaching before the final performance.

During the Grand Final, finalists will perform with their dance partner. A judging panel will choose the Dance Westminster Champion, and the audience will vote for the People’s Champion Award.
