General Information
The ActiveWestminster Network Activity Project Funding provides financial support for community-led health and wellbeing physical activity projects in Westminster. ActiveWestminster partners can apply for up to £2,000 to start or upscale initiatives that boost physical activity and health among local residents.
Network partners that meet the following criteria can apply:
- Hold or are working towards the ActiveWestminster Mark.
- Maintain accurate participant and activity data.
- Complete a social value plan and demonstrate measurable impact.
- Engage in projects that benefit the health and wellbeing of the community.
Projects must:
- Contribute to increasing activity levels and wellbeing for at least three years.
- Provide a clear breakdown of how funding will be used.
- Involve partnerships with local organisations and provide supporting statements.
- Must contribute towards setting up a new project or developing an existing one.
Application Process & Documentation
The change to two geographic areas—North and South Westminster—was made to focus on priority areas where health inequalities are greatest. This approach allows for more targeted funding in areas where the need for health and wellbeing improvements is most urgent.
The process has been streamlined to make the application easier for applicants. With this change, the maximum funding available has increased to £2,000.
Applicants must submit:
- A completed online application form.
- A project cost breakdown form.
You can apply by completing the online application and submitting the required documentation. Ensure your application is submitted by the deadline. Apply Now!
Funding Guidelines
No, organisations can only apply once per funding round. However, you can combine two different activity programmes into one application. Be sure to clearly explain this in your application and consult the Funding Terms and Conditions document for further guidance.
The cost breakdown should cover the project delivery period. The funding is to kickstart & deliver the project for the project duration. It should focus on kickstarting and completing the project, with the goal of making it self-sustaining.
The funding is provided to cover the initial phase of the project, from launch to completion, within the delivery deadlines for one year. After that, the project should aim to become self-sustaining. It may continue to support the community for 3+ years, and if needed, you can apply for additional funding in the following year, but only to assist with growth. If necessary, the funding awarded may be extended beyond the financial year, but it will depend on the amount granted and how far it can stretch.

Decision Timeline & Monitoring
The time for a decision depends on whether additional information is needed from applicants. In general, funding decisions are made within 2-3 weeks, though they may take up to 4 weeks after the application window closes.
Your project will be monitored for the duration specified in the application. Monitoring will be conducted via the VIEWS platform, where you’ll submit participant details and case studies. Additionally, spot checks, both announced and unannounced, may be conducted by the Sport, Leisure & Active Communities (SL&AC) team, to ensure compliance with project goals and funding requirements.
Communications, Marketing and Social Media
When promoting your project, whether it’s on social media, marketing materials or non-digital promotion, we recommend including the phrase “ActiveWestminster Network Funded” in a clear and prominent way. This helps acknowledge the support your project has received.
You can use the ActiveWestminster logo or simply mention the funding support in your posts, flyers, or other promotional content. Be sure to follow the guidelines provided in the Branding Toolkit to ensure the proper use of logos and wording to maintain consistency and professionalism across all communications.
