Fairer Communities

Drop In sessions for the ‘Know Ball Games’ Pilot Consultations starting today Tuesday 20th Jun

Starting on Tuesday 20th June - First Phase Housing Estates Drop In Sessions

The ’Know Ball Games in Westminster’ pilot scheme aims to work with communities to strengthen a culture of play, physical activity, leisure, and sport across housing estates, parks, and open spaces by removing prohibitive play signage.

Westminster City Council believes that participation in play, physical activity, leisure, sport, and play can be truly transformative, inclusive, and inherently positive. Being active and healthy goes hand in hand with an improved quality of life.

The aim of ‘Know Ball Games’ pilot is to remove the ‘No ball games’ signs in a selection of housing estates and parks and open spaces and replace them with a new culture which encourages everyone to use the space for play and be physically active.

Just come along to the sessions on the dates and times below to learn more about the pilot scheme and share your views and insights.

New Changing Places Toilet launch at QM
We are striving to make buildings across Westminster more accessible to residents and this is the last addition to our other same facilities at Paddington Recreation Ground and Church Street Community Leisure Centre.

These new facilities are supported by the recent launch of our WelcoMe platform which enables residents to plan their visit to leisure centres, libraries and the Council’s buildings by advising venues prior to arrival of any specific requirements or adaptations required.

ADVANCE NOTICE: Closure of the playground at Paddington Recreation Ground on Thursday 25th & Friday 26th May

The playground at Paddington Recreation Ground will be closed on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th May for maintenance work

Urgent tree and essential works need to be carried out in the playground to guarantee everyone’s safety, therefore we will need to close the playground.

We know it’s a very popular feature and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused but these works are necessary so that everyone can continue to use the area safely.

Please contact the reception at Paddington Recreation Ground on 020 7644 6880 if you would like further information.
