KickFit - A New Brand of Football based Fitness for Women

KickFit is a brand-new fitness programme designed  for women, harnessing the power of football in a completely new way.

3 FREE Sessions up for grabs!

Make sure you sign up for the 3 FREE sessions to get a feel of this fantastic new programme. Let all your girls know!
  • Saturday 22nd June
  • Saturday 29th June
  • Saturday 6th July
The sessions are just £8 a week from Saturday 13th July.

Football x Circuit Training

The sessions are based on a circuit training method with the activities themselves using more traditional fitness exercises combined with football training techniques and equipment to offer a wide variety of fun individual and team based exercises through a timed rotation.

Designed for Women

The programme has been designed to cater to the physical fitness needs of women from all walks of life, of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. 

The sessions are structured to ensure that all participants can progress at their own pace, in a safe, fun and social environment.

It was lovely to see so many of you for the launch of our Skills and Training Programme on the 6th June! We hope you found the evening useful.

A Quick Recap

The main aim of the programme is to provide support to those within the Sport Leisure and Physical industry seeking to improve themselves personally and professionally. The offering is split into the following three categories:

1. A free foundation training offer

2. Sign posting to further training opportunities 

3. Access to a training bursary scheme

Whilst the programme is open to all individuals who live, work and study in Westminster, we do prioritise staff and volunteers who work with an ActiveWestminster Mark accredited organisation as well as those who face considerable cultural and socio-economic barriers to personal and professional development.

Not long to go now but there’s still time to sign up for this year’s Unity in the Community competition. Make sure you join us and the Lord Mayor this Saturday 15 June!

There are two fantastic events on the agenda to bring the community together and provide a friendly environment where players can compete and show case their football skills.

Unity in the Community (UITC)

Unity In The Community (UITC) is a mixed gender football competition, which invites local players and teams from all corners of Westminster and beyond to UNITE, compete and showcase their skills at our state of the art pitches. 

Girls Football Festival

That’s right girls this one is strictly for you! The Girls ONLY Football Festival will be taking place alongside UITC to commemorate the Woman’s World Cup! It kicks off with a fun filled skills session, followed by non-competitive friendly matches. 

The registration deadline has now been extended to Friday 14th June!

NSC Spotlight for June - Mind Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster

The Neighbourhood Sports Club programme is delivered in collaboration with members of the ActiveWestminster partnership and Everyone Active. Our Spotlight for June is Mind Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster.

Take care of your mental health

Mind is an organisation that helps individuals living with mental health conditions to feel like themselves and get on with their lives no matter how their mental health affects them, through a range of clinically proven services that improve wellbeing whilst providing support to aid and sustain recovery.

Some ways you can get started

There are two sessions on offer at Studio 125, Great Western Studios, 65 Alfred Road, W2 5EU

  • Mental Wellness, Yoga, Movement and Mindfulness: For adults on Wednesdays between 11:00 am -13:00 pm
  • Walking, Talking and Movement Group: For adults on Thursdays between 14:00 – 15:00 pm

Ladies Only Gym Sessions at Porchester!

New Ladies Only Sessions at Porchester Leisure Centre!

Exciting news! From 1st June there will be a ladies only gym sessions available at Porchester Leisure Centre!

Timetable

These sessions will take place in the Programmable Zone on the 2nd Floor.

  • Mondays between 5.30pm – 7.30pm
  • Tuesdays between 2pm – 4pm
  • Sundays between 11:15am – 1:15pm

This will be a private, safe and friendly space that can be used for any type of workout. A female member of staff will periodically check on exercisers and be on hand for assistance.

Pathway Works at Paddington Recreation Ground Progressing Well

Pathway works at Paddington Recreation Ground continue to progress well

The works that started at Paddington Recreation Ground on Friday 12th April are getting closer to its summer completion.

Westminster City Council working alongside Everyone Active and FM Conways have applied a phased programme of pathway works to :

  • improve accessibility
  • alleviate trip hazards
  • reduce localised rainwater ponding, and
  • undertake necessary repairs to the underground drains.

In order to carry out these works, certain areas will need to be closed to the public and the gates leading into the grounds will be closed in phases corresponding to the relevant pathway work. There will be some facility closures during these programme of works, please keep an eye out for notices, posters and social media posts to keep up to date.

As always our goal is to ensure that all our facilities are accessible and safe for all of our users. We will  ensure that there is as little disruption to your experience as possible.

These are the phases to the works that are yet to be completed, please bear in mind that dates are subject to change due to weather conditions. Please check our website for the latest updates:

Phase 4 – Moreshead Road Gate (Rose Garden) to the Café pathways

Works commenced on Tuesday 21st May and should be complete on Wednesday 5th June. The Morshead Gate will be closed throughout this period. Patrons should use the nearby Essendine Gate or The Grantully Gate entrances.

Phase 5 – Café to Carlton Gate Roundabout pathways

Works will commence on Wednesday 5th June and complete Friday 14th June. The Cricket nets will be open with access via the pathway behind the gym for this period. Carlton Road Gate and the Car Park will be CLOSED during this period. For access to the park and all facilities, please use the nearest entrance at Randolph Gate.

Phase 6 – Pathway behind the Football Pitch

Works will commence as soon as the Carlton Gate roundabout has fully completed. This section of pathway will be closed to the public throughout the works.

Phase 7 – Pathways around Tennis Courts 1 – 6

The works that started at Paddington Recreation Ground back in April are getting closer to completion with the final pathway phase around the Tennis Courts 1-6 starting on Wednesday 10th July.

  • New edging being installed.
  • Asphalt works will commence on Thursday 11th July and be completed by the end of Friday 12th July.
  • Court users are advised to use the alternative gates where necessary.
  • Court No 5 will be closed on Thursday 11th July but all the other court will remain operational.
  • Courts 3 and 4 will be provided with a crossover point from the high level path to the courts the remaining courts can be entered by the side gates.
  • Three benches around that area will be removed prior to pathway works commencing and then reinstate when complete
