Westminster Athletes at the 2024 Olympics!

Westminster Athletes at the Olympics!

We have some exciting news to share! Two of our Champions of the Future Athletes are competing in the Paris Olympics this year!

Our Active Westminster Champions of the Future programme runs each year and is designed to support talented athletes aged 12+ who live study and work in Westminster. In addition to being a bursary scheme, it gives athletes accepted onto the programme access to workshops and resources including free physio, to help them realise and fulfil their sporting potential.

Introducing our Olympians

Ashely McKenzie

This is Ashley’s 4th time in the Olympics. Hopefully you caught him representing Jamaica in the Judo competition on Saturday 27th July. Previously he represented Team GB, winning a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics.

Ashley comes from Queen’s Park and joined Moberly Judo Club as a child. He has had an amazing career which has seen him win the Commonwealth Games Gold for England twice.

Bianca Williams

Bianca is competing for Team GB in 200m athletics. She won bronze in last year’s World Athletics Championships as part of the 4x100m relay team and made the semi-final in 200m. Bianca has won multiple medals representing England and Team over her brilliant career and lives in Maida Vale and often trains at Paddington Recreation Ground.

The schedule for Bianca’s Olympics is:

  • 4th August 09:55am 200m Round 1
  • 5th August 19:45pm 200m Semi-Final
  • 6th August 20:40pm 200n Final
Become a Champion of the Future!

If you are a gifted or talented young athlete who lives in Westminster, make sure you check out our Champions of the Future Programme. We want to help you get to the next level. The round of Applications open in February 2025 so make sure you keep an eye out. Who knows, next time around it could be you in the Olympics!
