Now’s your chance to enhance your skills, achieve new qualifications, and make a positive impact on healthier, more active lives in Westminster.

Introducing the ActiveWestminster Skills & Training Programme

Westminster City Council’s ActiveWestminster Skills & Training Programme offers a fantastic bursary scheme to help you take the next step toward your goals. With funding of up to £2,500 available, you can pursue accredited and certified courses to grow your expertise in sport, physical activity, leadership, health, and wellbeing.

Who Can Apply?

This bursary is open to:

  • Those aged 16+ who live, work, study, or volunteer in the City of Westminster.

  • Individuals earning under £21,000 per year or currently unemployed.

  • People committed to supporting Westminster’s communities and helping create healthier, more active lives.

What Does the Bursary Cover?

The funding covers up to 80% of course fees (you’ll contribute the remaining 20%) for a wide range of qualifications, including:

  • Sports coaching certifications

  • Health & fitness qualifications

  • Mental health & wellbeing training

  • Leadership and development courses in Sport & Physical Activity

Applications are accepted throughout the year, giving you the flexibility to start when it suits you best. 

Please note: Only one application can be submitted per person each year.

Try Before You Bike - Cycle Loan Scheme

Westminster residents are encouraged to cycle with new Loan Scheme

Westminster City Council’s Try Before You Bike scheme is making cycling more accessible for all and with that in mind is giving away 250 free 3-month subscriptions for residents in the following areas:

  • Queens’ Park
  • Westbourne
  • Harrow Road
  • Church Street
  • St James

Plus, the council will also be providing 1-2-1 cycle training to improve your cycling skills and confidence on the road. What’s there not to like?

try before you bike

Residents can hire bikes—including e-bikes and adaptive options—on a flexible, monthly basis. The initiative offers a fantastic set of benefits like free delivery, training, and accessories, with rental costs deducted if participants choose to buy their bike later.

Low-income support and cycling lessons are also available, helping Westminster residents embrace sustainable, active travel.

New No Strings Badminton Sessions at Jubilee Community Leisure Centre

New Over 50s Multi-Activity Mornings at Jubilee Community Leisure Centre

No Strings Badminton is now available every Wednesday 6pm-7pm at the Jubilee Community Leisure Centre, thanks to Everyone Active
 
From the 2nd October, every Wednesday 6pm – 7pm after that. At only £3.45 per session, there is something for everyone. Go back to badminton or if you are new, try it out. You will love it.

No Strings Badminton is a national participation programme offering instructor-led, low-cost, fun ‘pay and play sessions’ for all abilities within the local community. Badminton is a fantastic sport for those looking to get active, meet new people and improve your mental health.
