Ladies, start the new year right with the Westminster Women Winter Weekends Challenge!

Calling all ladies in Westminster City – it’s time to get active this winter with the Westminster Women Winter Weekends – a joint initiative between Cancer Research UK London, Winter Run 10K and Westminster City Council. This is a free new app based challenge starting from Saturday 6th January through to Sunday 25th February 2024 

All you have to do is complete a distance of between 5 and 15km each weekend and it’s entirely up to you how. Walk, Run, Sprint, Jog or even glide, just get those steps in to unlock some great rewards along the way.

You’ve still got some time to get last minute sessions in with the awesome NCS. And if you can’t make it before the break, not a problem, make sure you refer to the timetable below to check start dates and times for the new year.

Update 19 December on the improvements works in Paddington Recreation Ground

The maintenance and improvement works keep progressing well. Here is the latest update for the following weeks.

  • The works in the Environmental Area and Forest School are completed.
  • The improvement works of the Playground Areas is completed.
  • The Pavilion Changing Rooms work is completed.
  • The maintenance and enabling works of the Tennis Courts is now completed.
  • The resurfacing of Tennis Courts 8 – 13 is now completed.
  • The sports pitches and running tracks are being deep cleaned and should be completed by the end of this week.
  • The Pathway Works have started and continue until further notice.
  • The Bluebell Glade and the Forest Garden works have started and continue into the new year . We hope to have them open at the end of January weather permitting.

Northumberland Place Play Street Public Consultation

Northumberland Place Play Street Public Consultation is open from 8th December 2023 - 2nd January 2024

A Public consultation is taking place between 8th December until 2nd January 2024 for a proposed play street on Northumberland Place, between Talbot Road and Artesian Road. The Play Street would give pedestrians priority over traffic in the Spring and Summer months each year.

The goal of Westminster City Council is always to ensure that we do what we can to bring you the people in the community closer together. Opening up the streets for children to play and providing a safe opportunity for residents to meet and connect has proven to build a higher sense of trust and belonging. We take what you have to say very seriously so please do take the survey.

NSC Spotlight for December - Future Men

The Neighbourhood Sports Club programme is delivered in collaboration with members of the ActiveWestminster partnership and Everyone Active. Our Spotlight for December is Future Men, a multi-award-winning specialist charity that supports boys and men along the path to becoming dynamic future men.

Get Active!

Future Men are offering Fitness and Gym sessions to young people aged 14-19 years of age. The sessions will taking place very Tuesday, between 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Amberly Youth Club (11 Clearwell Drive, Amberly Estate, Amberly Road, W9 2JZ). Make sure you take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to get fit with those in the know.
