Westminster Set To Move Different Different As ActiveWestminster Weekend Lands On 11-12 April

Got plans next weekend? No? Now You do!

On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April, ActiveWestminster Weekend takes over with a borough-wide celebration of FREE Sport, fitness classes and activities at our Everyone Active operated leisure centre. That’s right, we’ve partnered up once again to get you all moving, connecting and belonging. From gym floors, studios and pools, to pitches and community spaces, residents of all ages and abilities are invited to try something new, get active, and connect with their community.

This a a great opportunity to visit our sport and leisure facilities, try new activities or restart ones you might not have engaged in for a while. Activities are open to all residents, including children and families (some age restrictions may apply – please check in advance to avoid disappointment) as well as visitors. 

No pressure, no expectations, just movement, energy and chance to be part of something bigger.

And if you’ve not already got one, this event is also a chance to discover the ActiveWestminster Card – A free card for people who live or study in Westminster, giving access to discounted activities, including classes, swimming and racquet sports.

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

One weekend, two Tournaments. Let’s Go!

Got skills? Or just want to feel the good vibes? Either way, we’ve got you covered. Unity in the Community takes over Paddington Recreation Ground for two days of open, inclusive action, whether you play every week, or haven’t kicked a ball in years, everybody is invited. This year the Girls Only Football Festival takes place on Saturday 11 April between 1:00 – 3:00pm and the Mixed Tournament takes place on Sunday 12 April between 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Unity in the Community Spring Edition 2026: One Pitch. One Community

The pitch is calling! Get ready for one of the standout moments of the ActiveWestminster Weekend. That’s right all you fancy foot work legends, it’s time  for you to show us what you’ve got.

As part of ActiveWestminster Weekend – a borough wide celebration of FREE activities taking place across our leisure centres in Westminster, Unity in the Community, our  high energy football event brought to you by the team at Everyone Active in partnership with ActiveWestminster returns for another high-energy day of football, connection, and community.

Taking place at Paddington Recreation Ground on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April, this annual event that runs during the Spring and Summer seasons, brings together players and residents of all ages for a day build on teamwork, inclusivity and electric energy.

A Tournament That Brings People Together

Unity in the Community is about more than what happens on the pitch, it’s a celebration of what sport can do. It’s a day of bringing people together across the community, celebrating inclusion and diversity and creating opportunities to connect through sport with something for everyone to get involved in.

Mixed Football Tournament: Sunday 12 April between 11am – 4pm

At the heart of the day is the mixed football tournament, a fast paced, inclusive competition, welcoming players from across Westminster and beyong.

Open to mixed gender teams, it’s a chance for young players to:

  • Compete and Connect
  • Show their skills at our state of the art pitches
  • Be part of something bigger and represent their community

Whether you are playing to win, or just for the love of the game, or just coming along to support, expect great football and even better energy on and off the pitch.

Girls Football Festival: Saturday 11 April between 1 – 3pm

Running alongside the main tournament is The Girls ONLY Football Festival, a dedicated space for young female players to get involved.

Starting with a fun skills session, followed by non-competitive friendly matches, it’s all about:

  • Building confidence
  • Trying something new
  • Enjoying the game in a supportive and safe space.

It’s all about building confidence, having fun, and encouraging more girls to get involved in footballUnity.

Looking for a fun, active way to keep the kids busy this school holiday?

With an ActiveWestminster Card (You must apply for and get one before booking a swim session), children living in Westminster can swim for FREE when accompanied by an adult at one of our leisure centres with pools.

It’s fun, accessible, and packed with benefits, the perfect way to burn of all that Easter egg energy, and break up the holidays while building confidence in the water.
  • Build essential water confidence and life skills

Check eligibility and rules

  • One free adult per qualifying child.
  • Free swim session times vary by leisure centre – check websites for details.
  • Children under 8 must be supervised in the water by an adult (18+), with a maximum ratio of two children to one adult.
  • Participants must register for the ActiveWestminster card in advance. All children must be residents to quality for the scheme.
  • All swim sessions must be pre-booked. Wristbands to be collected at reception.
  • Available Monday – Friday, from 10am to 4pm during school holidays (times may vary by pool).

It’s your final chance to be recognised, supported and take your performance to the next level

Time is almost up. Application for the ActiveWestminster’s Champions of the Future programme close tonight at midnight and this is your final opportunity to be recognised as one of Westminster’s rising sporting stars.

Make sure you take advantage of this amazing opportunity delivered to you by Westminster City Council, in partnership with Everyone Active and Kings College London. 

Step in to your future

Champions of the Future isn’t just about funding, it’s a platform to elevate your sporting journey to the highest level. 

Selected athletes will gain access to the support, recognition and development opportunities needed to push their performance further and unlock their potential.

You get access to:

  • Funding support to help you train and compete at an elite level
  • Access to mentoring and athlete development opportunities
  • Official recognition as on of Westminster’s future sporting champions

Application criteria and process

Athletes accepted on to the scheme are selected based on their sporting success and the level at which they compete

To be considered for the programme applicants must:

  • Live, study or work in Westminster
  • Be registered with a National Governing Body affiliated club

and either:

  • Be ranked in the top 20 at a regional competition in the current year (2024- 2025), or
  • Be a member of a regional squad (age band to senior) with regional squad results in the current championship year (2024 – 2025).

Active Streets Coach-Led Activity Sessions Timetable Confirmed

Westminsters Streets are set to move once again!

We are pleased to announce confirmed organised activity sessions for Play Street and Street Play Sessions for Spring and Summer 2026. Residential roads will be transformed into safe, welcoming spaces where children, families and neighbours can play be active and connect.

From informal games and multi-sports activities to relaxed free play, these sessions make physical activity accessible and inclusive and best of all they are right on your doorstep, helping local residents stay active while building stronger community connections.

Looking for ways to make sure the kids burn off all that Easter egg energy this half term? We’ve got it covered! Sign the kids up for the ActiveWestminster Edutain and Edutain+ school holiday camps.

Active days, creative play

Our Easter camps are all about keeping young people moving, learning new skills and enjoying their time off from school in a supportive enviroment.
  • Open to ages 8-13 (Edutain) and 8-16 (Edutain+)
  • A mix of sports, team games, and creative activities
  • Opportunities to build confidence, try new things and meet others

Eligible families can access free spots, helping ensure everyone can take part.

Edutain+: Inclusive holiday fun without limits

Edutain+ is all about creating a space where every young person can get involved, feel confident and enjoy their school holidays their way.

Designed for children and young people with disabilities aged 8-16, these sessions offer a mix of sport, movement and creative activities adapted to suit different needs and abilities. Whether it’s trying something new, building skills or simply having fun with others, everyone us supported to take part and feel included. Sessions will run between 10:00am to 3:00pm.
