Survey for Phase 2 of the ‘Know Ball Games Consultation’ is open

Survey for Phase 2 of the Know Ball Games Consultation is open

If you are a resident or a service user of Queens Park (Court, Estate and Gardens), Hallfield Estate or Churchill Gardens, then we want to hear from you!

Westminster Council aims to strengthen a culture of play, physical activity, leisure, and sport across our Lives, Neighbourhoods and City.

We appreciate that some behaviours of others can be frustrating to some residents, and this may be reflected in feedback and community perception, however supporting children and families to play outdoors, in the street, communal areas and open spaces is not antisocial behaviour and will contribute to significant health benefits.

The project will review restrictive signage and byelaws such as ‘No Ball Games’ and ‘No Cycling’ signs and look to replace / remove these where appropriate.

In this second phase, the survey aims to gather views from residents and service users of the three selected pilot locations Queens Park (Court, Estate and Gardens), Hallfield Estate and Churchill Gardens.

The questionnaire includes feedback on suggestions we heard during Phase 1 of the consultation so that we can come up with an effective solution that allows more people to lead healthy and active lives in Westminster.

Your views are important to us, so please take the survey.

Visit the ‘Know Ball Games in Westminster’ page to find out more about the whole pilot and consultation process.

Appealing to people of every age, gender and fitness level, it features a massive three-court sports hall with activities like 5-a-side football, while the community studio caters for group exercise classes and children’s parties.

The private exercise consultation room (for the Physical Activity Referral Scheme) enables healthcare practitioners to refer patients for personalised exercise regimens to assist with chronic health issues.

Customer platform lifts and a ‘changing places’ space allow users with complex disabilities and their carers to fully adapt to their needs.

Seymour Leisure Centre closure set for Thursday 22nd Feb 2024

Closure date for Seymour Centre set for Thursday 22nd Feb 2024

Westminster’s planning committee passed a planning application and Listed Building Consent application for the refurbishment of the historic Seymour Centre in Marylebone.

This means that we can share the proposed date of closure, set for Thursday 22nd February 2024.

The refurbishment work will include new and enhanced facilities including an open plan gym, refurbished swimming pool, contemporary library, café, children’s soft play area, and upgraded climbing wall, all whilst maintaining the buildings art deco features.

Central to the plans is also accessibility throughout and a reduction in carbon emissions. We want to thank all groups and residents who took the time to input into and inform the plans.

Westminster City Council has created a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page to answer any general questions you have regarding the project. Just click the button below.
